Textile reuse protagonist of the second edition of 080 Reborn

On October 24, 080 Barcelona Fashion opened with the second edition of 080 Reborn, which Girbau LAB promotes together with the Consorci de Comerç, Artesania i Moda (CCAM), the Agència de Residus de Catalunya (ARC) and the vegan sneakers brand Vegtus.

The aim of 080 Reborn is to give visibility to and promote reuse and recycling in the field of fashion. If its first edition made an impact with a collection created with clothes 100% recovered from second-hand stores and waste sorting plants, in this edition, 080 Reborn has reinvented itself both in content and format, following the pillars of recycling and upcycling.

It is with this idea of reuse that Girbau LAB’s participation makes sense and highlights the relevance of treating textile garments to extend their life. Sanitizing clothing, caring for it, treating it to keep it in circulation for the longest possible time and contributing to its durability will reduce its environmental impact.

080 Reborn goes beyond the physical presentation and proposes an innovative concept that integrates fashion, sustainability, and technological innovation.

The stylists of this second edition were once again Fermin&Gilles, who showcased a collection conceptualized with garments made from denim scrap, recovered from waste handlers and second-hand outlets to give them a new use. Beyond the collection, the designers stunned us with their “staging”: a dance of models, dresses, jackets, dungarees and overalls that moved tidily along the catwalk, opening up a whole range of options on how we can extend the life of our garments.

080 Reborn is a committed effort shared by many that is part of the Circular Fashion Pact, to which we have adhered to guide the textile sector towards a circular model and whose objectives are: to increase the durability of products and the percentage of reused material in fabrics, to reduce and eliminate the use of harmful materials, to increase reuse with the implementation of new business models, and to apply cleaner and more efficient production strategies.

080 Reborn is a committed effort shared by many that was born with the willingness to promote a change in the culture of how we consume resources. The road is long and there is still a long way to go, but initiatives such as 080 Reborn bring this change closer to the public through fashion. The event is part of the Circular Fashion Pact, to which we have adhered as Girbau LAB to guide the textile sector towards a circular model through clear objectives: to increase the durability of products and the percentage of reused material in fabrics, to reduce and eliminate the use of harmful materials, to increase reuse with the implementation of new business models, and to apply cleaner and more efficient production strategies.
